A native of Kinsale, Co.Cork, Ireland, Arabella Denvir grew up sailing and racing dinghies and went on to represent Trinity College Dublin in intercollegiate team racing in Ireland and England. She club raced Enterprises, Hornets, 505’s, as well as J24’s and bigger keelboats.. In 1993 she moved with her husband to Malta where they set up a sailing school and organized match racing events. There she raced an 8m One Design sportsboat and started to match race.

She and her husband Philip now own and run Premier Sailing on Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay, running US Sailing keelboat programs and Optimist programs as well as organizing corporate sailing regattas.

Since her arrival in the US she has concentrated on match racing and is currently ranked 35th in the ISAF World Women’s Match Racing ranking list. (Jan 2003)
