Where to meet
Courses
at the Tides resort in
Irvington: Please note that our classroom and our office are based at the Tides
Lodge, which is across the creek from the Tides Inn. If you drive to the Lodge you will see our building right in
front of you when you park your car. If you come by shuttle
boat from the Tides Inn (a two minute boat ride) you just walk
up the hill to our classroom.
We meet at 9.30 in our classroom at
the Tides Lodge. If you are running late you can phone us
at the classroom on 438 9300.
Courses
at Two Rivers Yacht Club
We meet at 9.30 outside the dockmasters office at the Marina in
Governors Land. If you are running late you can phone us on
804 815 0150.
What to Bring
For all
Small boat courses and Young Sailor courses
Hours are 9.30 to 3.30 and you should bring:
-
Lunch and a water bottle
- At least one complete change of
clothing.
- Sun block, hat, swimming gear
and a towel
- If you wear glasses or
sunglasses, a string to hang them around your neck.
- For J24 and Race Training
courses you might need sailing gloves
For the Keelboat Course
Hours are 9.30 to
4pm each day. We meet first at the classroom at The Tides Lodge
each morning. You should wear comfortable clothes and non-slip
shoes, preferably not with black soles. Bring a hat for the sun, sun
block. And also your lunch and plenty to drink, especially water.
Sailing gloves are a good idea to protect your hands from rope chafe
- we keep them in stock here in various sizes. If you would like to
have a pair please phone and reserve them to make sure we keep the
right size for you. In the Spring and the Autumn you might need
warmer clothes - definitely a good jacket, warm hat, some layers. In
the summer months you should bring your swimming things and a towel
because you might fancy a swim at lunchtime or at the end of the
day.
For Skippered
Charter When you arrive
at the classroom we will ask you to fill out our registration form
and pay any remaining balance due, then we will go straight out to
the boat. The best thing to wear is comfortable clothes and non-slip
shoes (please avoid black soles!) and a hat for the sun, and sun
block. You might like to bring a bottle of water with you too.
