The Tides Cup Premier Sailing at The Tides Inn May 1st & 2nd 2010 NOTICE OF RACE 1 ORGANIZING AUTHORITY The Organising Authority (OA) will be Premier Sailing. 2 VENUE The venue will be Irvington, Virginia and the waters of Carter Creek and the Rappahannock River. The event will be hosted by Premier Sailing at The Tides Inn. 3 EVENT GRADING The event has applied for ISAF Grade 5. This grading is subject to review by the ISAF Match Race Rankings Sub Committee. The event may be re-graded when there is clear reason to do so.
Saturday 24th April Practice/Training Day Saturday 1st May 8am Morning Briefing 9am First Race Sunday 2nd May 8am Morning Briefing 9am First Race Racing will continue as long as possible each day in order to complete round robins. Prizegiving will follow as soon as possible after boats are put away after last race. 4.2 Unless excused by the OA, attendance at the following is mandatory: (a) Initial briefing for skippers. (b) Daily briefing, for skippers. (c) Prize giving for the final skippers and crew 5 SKIPPERS ELIGIBILITY (a) As many as five (5) skippers will be invited. Only skippers invited by the OA will be eligible to enter this event. (b) The registered skipper shall helm the boat at all times while racing, except in an emergency. (c) To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of invitation in writing by completing registration form and returning to the organizers by mail or by e-mail, together with credit card details for damage deposit (see 6.3 below). (d) A non-refundable entry bond of $125 shall accompany the acceptance of invitation for this to be valid. This may be paid by cash, cheque, visa or mastercard. The balance of the entry fee is payable by 1st April. (e) All competitors shall obtain an ISAF Sailor ID by registering online at www.sailing.org/isafsailor. Skippers shall inform the OA of their ISAF Sailor ID at registration. Obtaining this sailor ID is a very simple procedure. 6 ENTRIES 6.1 (a) The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration and the payment of all fees and deposits. The entry fee and deposit shall be paid prior to gaining access to boats for the practice/training. All payment shall be paid to Premier Sailing. 6.2 Entry Fee A non-refundable entry fee of $US 250 shall be paid , 50% as entry bond, the balance before April 1st. 6.3 Damage deposit (a) An initial damage deposit of $US500 shall be paid . This deposit is the maximum payable by the skipper as a result of any one incident. (b) In the event of a deduction from the damage deposit is decided by the OA it may require that the deposit be restored to its original amount before the skipper will be permitted to continue in the event. (c) Any remaining deposit after the event will be refunded within 10 days after the event. 7 RULES 7.1 (a) The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the RRS, and including Appendix C. (b) The rules for the handling of boats will apply, and will also apply to any practice sailing . Class rules will not apply. 7.2 Major Alterations to the RRS Add to RRS 41: (e) help to recover from the water and return on board a crew member, provided the return on board is at the approximate location of the recovery. 8 BOATS AND SAILS (a) The event will be sailed in J24 boats. (b) Two boats will be provided. (c) The following sails will be provided for each boat: Mainsail, Genoa, Jib, Spinnaker. 9 CREW (INCLUDING SKIPPER) (a) The number of crew (including the skipper) shall be four. All registered crew shall sail all races. The maximum weight of each crew member shall be 87.5 kilos. (b) When a registered skipper is unable to continue in the event the OA may authorise an original crew member to substitute. (c) When a registered crew member is unable to continue in the event the OA may authorise a substitute, a temporary substitute or other adjustment. 10 EVENT FORMAT (a) The event will consist of the following stages: Double Round Robin (b) The OA may change the format, terminate or eliminate any round, when conditions do not permit the completion of the intended format. 11 COURSE (a) The course will be windward/leeward with starboard roundings, finishing downwind. (b) The intended course area will be Carter Creek or Rappahannock River close to Carter Creek. 12 ADVERTISING (a) As boats and equipment will be supplied by the Organising Authority, ISAF regulation 20.4 applies. Each boat will be required to display advertising as supplied by the OA. (b) Boats shall not be permitted the right to protest for breaches of any rules regarding advertising (amends RRS 60.1). 14 MEDIA, IMAGES AND SOUND 14.1 The OA shall have the right to use any images and sound recorded during the event free of any charge. 17 DISCLAIMER All those taking part in the event do so at their own risk. The OA, its associates and appointees accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience incurred, howsoever caused. 18 INVITATIONS Entries will only be accepted from invited skippers.
