Our WRC started in September 2009 and the Fall schedule consisted of four training days during which we concentrated on learning how to fly a spinnaker.  Then four of the members raced very successfully in the Hospice Turkey Shoot regatta in mid October in strong winds and placed 5th in their class.The next phase of activity will commence in the spring - see schedule below.  We are actively seeking more members to join our enthousiastic happy gang of gals.  We are offering 10% Early Bird Discount for all sailors who register by 14th February with an Early Bird Joining Fee of $25.

Objective:   To create a body of skilled women racers with a view to creating a match racing centre here at Premier Sailing in Irvington.

 Entry requirements:   Some practical sailing knowledge and experience, enthousiastic and committed approach to the training schedule. Commitment to attend 80% of schedule.  Members should arrived dressed for sailing, sunblocked and ready to go!

Boats: will be J24’s  with crew of four on each boat                      Times:  9.30 to 4pm with break for lunch.                                     Location:  Premier Sailing at The Tides Inn, Irvington.  (1.5 hours north of Hampton, 1.5 hours east of Richmond,  25 mins from Deltaville)

Spring program:                                                                                                 Training Days with intensive spinnaker handling, mark rounding, and boathandling on Sundays March 28,  April 4,  April 18,  April 25, and Saturday May 8 (Sat).    Additionally, unlimited practice days in May and June to be arranged by members themselves

Spring Match Racing Events  to consider entering !.....

• Tides Cup May 1st/2nd   (Open Match Racing event at Tides Inn)

• Northern Lights Cup and Match Racing Clinic May 27-31 in Sheboygan Wisconsin

Autumn Program:

Training Days on Sundays August 22,29, Monday Sept 6 (Labour Day) Sunday Sept 19, Sept 26th.  Additionally, unlimited practice days in August and September to be arranged by members themselves.

Autumn Events to consider:  Turkey Shoot Regatta in October

Cost of membership: $520 per year

For those who may not be around for the full year we have created a split price of $330 for Spring program and $330 for Autumn program.  

For those who would like to pay their membership as a monthly subscription the price will be $50 per month Jan-Dec inc.    

Joining Fee $45 :  Paid once only.

Membership will also include the following for each member; full membership of WIMRA (Womens International Match Racing Association,   ISAF Racing Rule Book,  Sail Trim and Rig Tuning Guide.    

Finally, we may have some changes to dates if needed and we may have additional events including additional match racing clinics or other clinics. We published this information in mid November 2009 and many things can happen to cause additions or changes to the above.
